Review
This book starts off with a chaotic scene of a man in the
hospital having his children read some journals. I was slightly confused
in the first few pages, but once the story picks up it is great. We meet
Brandy whose brother is getting married in Italy and she is traveling to the
wedding. During her time exploring the city she meets the Juliet's who
respond to letters and one happens to be a man named Ivo. Brandy
immediately takes a liking to Ivo and they eventually decide to spend the rest
of the trip together.
This story is amazing it truly captures what it is like to
care for someone who has a disease. Through the author's writing you can
tell the struggles that Brandy and Ivo are going through to be
together. The author does a great job of developing the characters
in the book as well as making the reader feel for all people with Alzheimer's
and their care givers.
I loved how the book went back and forth between Brandy and
Ivo's perspectives so you can get a complete picture of what is going
on. Sometimes as a reader it is important to not only understand
what one character is thinking, but multiple characters when you are dealing
with a serious issue. After completing the book I feel like I have the whole
picture and all my questions where answered as a reader.
This is a hard review to write without giving so many
spoilers away. It is an excellent book that keeps the readers attention
and you want to know what is going to happen. How we learn about the
disease in the book is one of the most shocking part of the book for me since I
didn't know that much about Alzheimer's before reading on when symptoms can
show.
I feel this book is great for a weekend read or a nighttime
read, although you are going to over read since you are going to want to know
what happens. As a reader I needed to know what was going to
happen to Brandy and Ivo since there were so many bumps in the road.
I was given a copy of this book from Bibliophiles
Unplugged Blog Tours for an honest review. This did not affect my opinion
of this book.
