I had one chance. One chance to tell the boy of my dreams that I love him, one chance to finally get the guy.

And I blew it.

I watched him leave. I watched as he went off to college to start a whole new life without me in it. A life filled with drinking, parties, and hot college girls. I suddenly became the pathetic young best friend, pining from afar, while he lived his life.

It took me a long time to get a second chance, and now that I have it, I wonder if I’ll finally have the guts to confess my love or if it will all go up in flames.

My thoughts:

This book follows Paislee and Josh who have been best friends forever.  Paislee and Josh hang out all the time when they are home and even sleep in the same bed.  Josh is a little bit older and leaves for college.   Paislee is stuck at home for half a semester while she is pinning over Josh who she believes is living it up at school.

Pasilee has been in love with Josh for years and isn’t sure if he feels the same way.   Pasilee also doesn’t know how to tell Josh her feelings.   Pasilee seems very strong and independent in the book, but she depends on Josh a lot for social events.  After what happens at a party with Josh I honestly don’t know what Pasilee is thinking and this drives me nuts while reading.  I just wanted to shake some sense into her, but I love when you become so invested in a character that you want to yell at them.

Josh is an interesting character in the book.  He does get his own chapters in which we get to see the sides of his feelings.  Pasilee’s feelings are more present in the book, but we get Josh’s conflicted feelings as well.

The author did a great job with all the friendships in the book.  The friendships that develop between Josh and his friends and Pasilee and Josh’s friends are great.  The author took so many friends and characters and made me want to be friends with everyone.  I also loved Paislee’s roommate Letty, she is a rock star in my mind in this book.  I would have loved to read more about her and her life.    She helps Paislee through a lot of rough events in her life.

Things I didn’t love about the book was the back and forth with Paislee debating how to tell Josh how she feels.  I wish she would have gotten it over with earlier in the book because the end of the story is great.  I love how everything turned out.  I would have loved to read more about other relationships in the book versus her going back and forth.

The ending of the book is very interesting.  I want to say amazing, but what happens to one of the characters is not great, but it does rally the spirit of the whole book and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

I would suggest this as a nighttime read.  It was easy to pick up this book and put it down while still maintaining what was going on during the book.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.  This does not affect my opinion of this book.
