The Grownup - Gillian Flynn (Book Review)

I picked this book up on a whim at the library so I could get a quick read in.  I am planning on starting Gone Girl in the next week or so, so I figured I would try out Gillian Flynn.   The story is about a women who started her life as a beggar with her mother and learned the basic's of human interaction. She then became a women who gives hand jobs and after getting carpal tunnel syndromes tarts with reading auras.

One day while reading auras Susan Burke walks in to let her know that her life had just been ruined and that her home was haunted.  Eventually the narrator begins doing cleanses at Susan Burke's house since she believes it to be haunted. I don't want to expand any more since it is a short story and I don't want too many spoilers.

This is a quick read that will keep the reader wanting more.  The ending is actually perfect your left up to your own imagination of what actually happened in the story and who the bad person actually was.  It makes you question how well do we actually know anyone and do people lead us to believe only what they want us to believe.    I love the issue brought up of how well can someone actual read people since the narrator claimed that was a big part of her personality and then wasn't able to read Susan.

This book made me really excited to read Gillian Flynn since the suspense kept the book moving and I really wanted to know what was going to happen in the end.  This is a great book to read on the go or if you just want a quick distraction from reality, although it will leave you with many questions.
